French farmers gathered today outside President Emmanuel Macron's seaside vacation home, organizing a symbolic demonstration, with tractors, banners and a coffin for the "death of the rural world."
"Eat French food" and "Stop taxes" were some of the slogans on banners in front of the villa, which is guarded by security forces.
Farmers threw entire carts of cabbages and tires outside the French president's house as part of their action.
Following the announcement by Von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, on Thursday evening, to postpone the signing of the EU-Mercosur agreement to January, the confederation of farmers' associations FNSEA considered this decision "insufficient" and called on its members to continue the protests.
