The Health Ministry in Beirut said new Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon killed at least 15 people on Thursday, despite a ceasefire that went into effect on April 17.
The Lebanese army said a member of its ranks and “members of his family” were killed when an airstrike hit his home in the southern region of Nabatieh. The health ministry did not comment on the attack.
Despite the ceasefire, which was extended until mid-May, the Israeli army is continuing its bombardment, mainly in the south, where an Arabic-speaking spokesman issued evacuation orders for about 20 communities.
It has created a 10-kilometer-deep zone, separated from the rest of Lebanon by a "yellow line," and is carrying out destruction operations in this area.
Deadly Israeli bombardments have targeted various locations in the south since yesterday morning, including some for which evacuation orders had not been issued.
The Ministry of Health counted fifteen dead, including five women and two children.
