US President Donald Trump has regained attention on social media after republishing an image showing the Strait of Hormuz symbolically renamed in his honor, an action that has sparked numerous reactions and debate in international media.
In parallel with this development, his administration is working to establish a new international coalition, which would aim to guarantee the safe passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important strategic corridors for global oil trade and energy transport.
According to reports by the prestigious newspaper The Wall Street Journal, this initiative would focus mainly on strengthening cooperation in the field of intelligence, as well as increasing diplomatic and economic pressure through the imposition of sanctions on actors considered a threat to the security and stability of this maritime area.
Unlike traditional military alliances, this coalition is not intended to function as a formal military bloc, but rather as a coordination mechanism between participating countries, with a focus on protecting freedom of navigation and regional stability.
A statement from the US State Department explains that interested countries may be included in this initiative as diplomatic partners or, in certain cases, even as military partners, depending on their level of commitment and contribution to this process.
Meanwhile, despite the existence of a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, adding to uncertainty in international markets and concern about the impact this situation could have on global oil supplies.
