The European Union and the United Kingdom have urged Israel to halt the escalation of violence by Jewish settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, which has intensified since the start of Israel's war with Iran.
According to the United Nations, six Palestinians have been killed over the past 11 days in attacks carried out by Israeli settlers in various areas of the West Bank.
The British government said it was shocked by the killings, while the European Union stressed that the level of settler violence was unacceptable. Both sides called on Israeli authorities to take measures to ensure accountability and prevent further attacks.
On the other hand, the Israeli military condemned the violence and said it is working to identify and punish the perpetrators of the attacks.
Israel has built about 160 Jewish settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since occupying these territories during the 1967 Middle East war. About 700,000 Israelis live in these settlements, while about 3.3 million Palestinians also live in the same areas.
Israeli settlements in the occupied territories are considered illegal under international law.
