"We are all Erjon Vishkulli" is the message that young people conveyed through their T-shirts during today's protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office in Tirana, in solidarity with the 28-year-old who was seriously injured in the eye by a rubber bullet during the demonstration the day before.
On the 13th day of the student revolt, protesters have chosen to bring attention to the case of the young man, who has headed to Italy for specialized medical treatment, in an attempt to save his eyesight.
Through this message, young people expressed support for Vishkulli, while raising concerns about the use of force by the police during the protests.
The 28-year-old's injury has caused numerous reactions, especially after Prime Minister Edi Rama's statement that he was committed to covering the costs of his treatment abroad.
However, the young man's sister has publicly stated that his deportation to Italy was facilitated by family, friends and supporters, and not by the state. She has also asked that her brother's case not be used for political purposes.
Meanwhile, the student protest continues in front of the Prime Minister's Office, where participants demand the resignation of Edi Rama and oppose the new legal measures announced by the government for violent protests.
