Serbian authorities have banned entry to Presevo for three members of the Kosovo Assembly and the Kosovo ambassador to Belgrade, who were traveling to console the mayor, Ardita Sinani, after the death of her father.
Vetëvendosje Movement MPs Arbërie Nagavci, Fatmire Mullhaxha-Kollçaku and Liza Gashi, along with Ambassador Jetish Jashari and Prime Minister Albin Kurti's advisor Ragmi Mustafi, were held for several hours at the Depce border crossing. Serbian authorities later informed them that they would not be allowed to continue their journey to Presheva.
Ardita Sinani herself denounced the incident through a Facebook post, explaining that the visit was personal and not official. According to her, Ragmi Mustafi would also convey Prime Minister Albin Kurti's condolences.
Sinan condemned the decision of the Serbian authorities, accusing them of introducing politics into a moment of family mourning.
"Serbia shamelessly decided to involve politics in this case as well," she said, describing the event as another manifestation of discriminatory policies against Albanians.
The Mayor of Presheva emphasized that such obstacles cannot harm the political and spiritual ties between Kosovo and the Albanians of the Presheva Valley.
