The Democratic Party of Kosovo has asked the President of Kosovo, Justina Shiroka-Pula, to return to the Assembly for reconsideration the law on the Specialized Chambers and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office, with the aim of supplementing several provisions and strengthening its legal certainty.
In a statement published on October 22, the PDK announced that the request had been forwarded to the president through an official letter. According to the party, the review aims to guarantee the protection of the constitutional rights of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army who are being tried in The Hague, as well as to ensure the implementation of the law in accordance with the state interest.
PDK emphasizes that the law is largely completed and that it does not require starting the process from scratch, but rather returning it to the Assembly for a final verification and improvement of elements that may hinder implementation.
"The willingness to improve the law is in no way a withdrawal from it. PDK will not give up on its entry into force in any way," the statement said.
The party has called on experts who have expressed willingness to contribute, including the People's Advocate, to present their concrete proposals. The PDK states that it aims for the law, approved on October 6, 2026, to be reviewed and approved again within a few weeks.
In parallel, the party has announced that it will continue its commitment to a coordinated state strategy for the appeal process, providing the necessary funds and professional support for the protection of former KLA leaders in The Hague. According to the PDK, the finalization of the law and support for the appeal should go hand in hand.
