DP leader Sali Berisha has raised new accusations about the relationship between the state-owned company KAYO and businesses linked to Ron Yeffet, claiming that around 45 million euros in public funds have been benefited through them.
According to Berisha, documents in the DP's possession show that TIMAK, in which Yeffet is a shareholder, did not meet the criteria to enter into a partnership with KAYO in the defense industry. He accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of supporting through laws and decisions what he described as a "mafia scheme," allegations that remain to be proven by the justice system.
Berisha also raised accusations that Yeffet and his partners have purchased weapons in third countries and then presented them as Albanian products. The DP leader said that the documents and information collected by the opposition will be submitted to SPAK, but also to NATO institutions and the defense ministries of member countries.
TIMAK Defence is a joint venture where TIMAK owns 80% of the shares and the state-owned company KAYO 20%. Ron Yeffet owns 49% of TIMAK, while 51% is owned by Arjeta Puca.
Yeffe's name has recently been placed at the center of investigations after the publication of audio recordings raising suspicions of arms trafficking. SPAK has launched verifications and conducted searches in Yeffe's apartment, while materials have also been seized as part of the investigation.
In the same speech, Berisha also touched on territorial reform, opposing the merger of 15 municipalities and calling on citizens to join the protest announced during tomorrow's session in the Assembly.
