Albania has achieved a historic victory over Serbia, triumphing with a score of 1-0 thanks to a goal by Rei Manaj. This success keeps alive the red and black dream of a place in the 2026 World Cup “Play Off”, while the situation in Group K still remains open. After this result, Albania led by Silvinjo has 4 points more than Serbia, although it has played one more match. The fight for second place, which ensures participation in the “Play Off” phase, will be finally decided in November.
The red and black team will play two important matches:
Andorra – Albania, on the move
Albania – England, on “Air Albania”, which will close the group matches
Meanwhile, Serbia will face Andorra away on October 14, and then in November will play two more matches: one away and one at home, against Latvia. Although Albania has the advantage, everything remains to be decided next month, although Serbia is going through a difficult period.
Coach Dragan Stojković resigned immediately after the match and will not travel with the team for the next match against Andorra. The situation has worsened further, as five important players are missing for the upcoming match:
Nikola Milenković, Luka Jović, Predrag Rajković, Andrija Živković, Dragan Rosić.
These absences, combined with changes in the technical staff, put Serbia in an extremely difficult position to keep its hopes of qualification alive.
