Kylian Mbappe (27) is going through a difficult period at Real Madrid and, according to "Marca", his frustration is growing due to injuries that have appeared more frequently than in his years at PSG.
In less than two seasons in Madrid, the French striker has missed 13 games due to physical problems, while in seven seasons in Paris he had only one more. The latest muscle injury has only deepened his dissatisfaction.
Mbappe's arrival in Madrid was accompanied by a near-perfect medical record. At PSG he suffered 14 minor injuries, while in the last three seasons before the transfer he missed only 42 days in total. The contrast with Real Madrid is stark, last season he had four physical problems, while this season he has reportedly had nine.
The problems began in October–November, with three minor injuries to his right ankle, which occurred mainly during the France internationals, keeping him out of several matches. The situation then worsened significantly with a knee injury, suffered after a tackle in the match against Celta on 7 December, which also prevented him from playing in the league match against Manchester City.
The knee "telenovela" and quick comebacks
After returning from the Christmas break, Mbappe complained of pain again and an MRI revealed damage to his lateral collateral ligament, which was expected to keep him out for at least three weeks. However, he was back in action after just 11 days. He missed the match against Betis (4 January) and the Super Cup semi-final (8 January), but travelled to Saudi Arabia and played 14 minutes in the Super Cup final against Barcelona.
Real Madrid lost that final and Mbappe was forced to sit out again, with the same knee problem. Although he was part of the team in some matches (like against Real Sociedad), he was not activated on several occasions, increasing concern within the club.
The trip to Paris and the new injury
According to "Marca", another long break later came, which began before the return leg in the round of 16 of the Champions League against Benfica.
The case was surrounded by controversy over an alleged misdiagnosis and Mbappe's trip to Paris to recover. In total, he reportedly missed 10 games due to the knee condition.
Now, a new muscle injury has left him out of the game again, while the Frenchman - according to reports - does not hide his confusion and frustration with the recurring injury situation that is accompanying him in Madrid.
