The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kosovo, Kreshnik Radonic, has proposed the date of June 7 for holding early parliamentary elections, following the meeting he held with the acting president, Albulena Haxhiu.
Radonic said that the institution he heads has requested as much time as possible to prepare for the electoral process, emphasizing that organizing elections requires considerable preparation.
"Regarding the date, we have asked to have as much time as possible, we need preparations because it is not an easy process. It is up to the president. The Constitutional Court has set it, May 31 or June 7. For us it is June 7, now it is up to the president to decide," he declared.
According to him, during the meeting, the budget that the CEC will need to organize the elections was not yet discussed, but he emphasized that the expenses are expected to be similar to those of the last elections.
According to Radio Free Europe, the last parliamentary elections in Kosovo, held on December 28, 2025, cost the budget about 7 million euros.
