The Kosovo Assembly has rejected the proposal to form a new government with Glauk Konjufca as the candidate for prime minister. Only 56 MPs voted in favor, 4 abstained and 53 voted against, making it impossible to form the new cabinet proposed by the Vetëvendosje Movement.
With the failure of the vote, the country is now heading for early parliamentary elections.
Konjufca is the second Vetëvendosje figure to attempt to form a government after Albin Kurti, but several parties that were previously in opposition declared that they would not support him, seeking a new run in the elections.
Before the vote, Konjufca warned that refusing to form a government would further deepen the political crisis in the country.
