Residents of Divjaka held their fifth protest on Tuesday evening against the new territorial reform, which foresees the merger of the Divjaka Municipality and its unification with the Lushnja Municipality.
The protest took place in the city's main square, where although the number of participants was lower compared to previous rallies, citizens expressed their opposition to the territorial change.
The removal of public services, economic difficulties, and social consequences were among the main arguments raised by the protesters, who demanded that institutions and services continue to be close to the residents of Divjaka.
"We need to get services here, so that we have everything here. Because if this is removed, everything will become difficult for us. And our fathers have experienced this," said one of the protesters.
Another citizen called on the mayor of Divjakë Municipality to be more engaged against the territorial reform and mobilize more residents to oppose the merger of the municipality.
Protesters also demanded wider participation of citizens in future rallies, as well as maximum engagement from local administration employees.
Residents declared that the protest will continue until a decision is made by the government to cancel the territorial reform project affecting the Divjaka Municipality.
At the end of the rally, protesters held a march through the city streets, calling for the involvement of more citizens in this cause.
