In a press conference, Ermal Meta explained the message behind the song "Stella Stellina", with which he is competing at the Sanremo Music Festival. The song, dedicated to the children in Gaza, is constructed in a deliberate form, Meta emphasizes.
“The music makes you want to dance, but it’s the lyrics that stop you from thinking for a moment,” he said. According to the artist, the biggest problem today is silence – an imposed silence, where words like Gaza and Palestine are not spoken, as if they were blasphemy.
"Silence is the big problem of the present. This song carries a paradox, the paradox in which we live today. If you don't hear the lyrics, you feel like dancing, but it's no coincidence, it was made that way on purpose; then you hear the lyrics and what you're hearing stops you for a moment. You listen attentively and pause for a moment, then you forget about it and start dancing again. It resembles the 'scrolling' of our reality. Today, adults make much more noise than children and this is worrying. Above all, it is a silence that we impose on ourselves; some things cannot be said, Gaza cannot be said, Palestine cannot be said, as if it were blasphemy. The fact that they cannot be said is blasphemy; blasphemy is not this, blasphemy is the fact that they are hidden", said Meta.
On the second night of the festival, "Stella Stellina" ranked in the top five. Legendary singer Adriano Celentano expressed his support for Meta, praising the song as a winner.
