The Court of Appeals of General Jurisdiction has changed the verdict for Azgan Mrnica, sentencing him to 35 years in prison for the murder of police officer Novruz Cenalia. According to the Appeals decision, Mrnica is spared the life sentence that was previously given by the Fier Court.
The serious incident occurred on May 13, 2024, at around 1:30 p.m., in the village of Baltëz in Fier. According to the investigation file, everything started after the perpetrator was stopped by a police officer for dangerous driving.
After a verbal argument, according to the Prosecution, Mrnica pulled out a firearm and shot and killed Officer Cenalia. After the incident, he was arrested by law enforcement after an operation that lasted about 48 hours.
