A Dutch television presenter has entered the Guinness Book of Records with a highly unusual vehicle, a traditional Dutch wooden shoe equipped with a motor, which reached a speed of 112.5 km/h.
Klaas van Kruistum and the team behind his show “Klaas Can Do Everything” decided to build a vehicle that could set a new world record. To realize the project, they contacted Briton Kevin Nicks, who in 2025 had set the record for the fastest motorized garden shed in the world.
This time, the team chose as inspiration one of the traditional symbols of the Netherlands, the Klompen, the characteristic wooden shoes. The vehicle was based on an electric kart frame, on which the exterior was built in the shape of a giant shoe.
The bodywork was made of polyester and fiberglass, giving the vehicle the appearance of a real wooden shoe, but much larger.
The crucial test took place on April 4 at Breda International Airport in Bosschenhoofd, the Netherlands. After getting behind the wheel, Van Kruistum managed to take the vehicle to 112.5 km/h, making it the fastest motorized shoe ever recorded.
The speed was enough to earn the project the Guinness World Record for the fastest motorized wooden clog in the world.
An unusual combination of Dutch tradition and modern technology, but this time it ended with a world record.
