The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted to the fining of citizens who participate in peaceful protests, describing this action as a serious violation of fundamental freedoms and rights.
Through a post on social media, Bardhi emphasizes that the right to assemble and protest peacefully is guaranteed by the Constitution and cannot be restricted through fines, threats, or the use of violence.
According to him, the use of state authority to punish citizens who exercise the right to protest constitutes arbitrariness and censorship.
"Fining citizens solely for the fact that they exercise their right to participate in a peaceful protest constitutes a serious act of arbitrariness and censorship of fundamental freedoms," Bardhi said.
The Democratic MP also warns that officials who sign punitive measures for participating in protests may face criminal liability.
"No one is above the Constitution and no one can use state authority to punish the exercise of a fundamental right. Anyone who signs such acts commits a criminal offense," he emphasizes.
In conclusion, Bardhi demands that every case of obstruction of the right to assembly and manifestation be treated with legal responsibility, underlining that the constitutional freedoms of citizens must be respected by state institutions.
