Qatar has announced the partial reopening of its airspace for the first time since the war began a week ago, allowing only a limited number of flights.
The Civil Aviation Authority announced that the airspace will only be used for evacuation flights and essential cargo transport. The decision comes amid concerns about security in the region and the risk of airstrikes.
Meanwhile, Hamad International Airport in Doha clarified that any new flights in the coming days will depend on the ongoing assessment of the security situation.
Qatar Airways has also launched some limited repatriation flights to European cities, including London, Rome, Paris, Madrid and Frankfurt.
Earlier this week, Qatari officials said the military had thwarted Iranian attempts to attack the airport. According to the Ministry of Defense, nine drones suspected of targeting the country were intercepted on Friday alone.
Authorities have warned that the situation remains fragile and any decision to expand flights will be made depending on security developments in the region.
