US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has accused Iran of using short-range missiles to threaten neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Rubio said that these missiles are designed to hit Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
According to him, Iran must stop producing drones and missiles that, according to the US, have been used in recent attacks in the region.
Rubio also spoke about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important routes for global oil transportation. He warned that this sea route will reopen "one way or another" after the military operations against Iran are over.
"The Strait of Hormuz will be reopened either with Iran's consent, or through an international military coalition that includes the United States," Rubio said.
He added that the US objectives in Iran are clear and that they are expected to be achieved within weeks, not months. Rubio also warned that if Iran decides to close the Strait of Hormuz after the military operation is over, it will face serious consequences.
