Eight American soldiers remain in serious condition, while most of the wounded have returned to duty.
The Pentagon announced that during the first 11 days of the war with Iran, Iranian attacks have caused 7 deaths among the US military and 140 injuries. According to Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, 108 of the injured have returned to duty, while eight soldiers remain in serious condition and are receiving specialized medical treatment.
The latest victim has been identified as US Army Sergeant Benjamin Pennington, 26, of Glendale, Kentucky. He was critically injured on March 1 when Iran struck a Saudi military base housing US troops.
Pennington died Saturday evening as military authorities were preparing to transfer him to a U.S. military hospital in Germany for more advanced treatment.
The sergeant was serving in the Space Battalion and was assigned to the 1st Space Brigade at Fort Carson, Colorado.
Meanwhile, over the weekend, President Donald Trump attended a ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to repatriate the bodies of the first six American service members killed in an Iranian drone attack on the port of Shuaiba in Kuwait.
