Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israeli forces to launch "immediate and powerful strikes" on the Gaza Strip, following an emergency security meeting.
According to a statement from his office, the decision comes in response to repeated ceasefire violations by the Hamas group.
Operations are expected to begin immediately, while the situation in the region remains tense.
