United States President Donald Trump has announced that he will replace Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, nominating Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin to the post.
The announcement was made by Trump himself through a post on the social network Truth Social , where he praised Noem's work so far in leading the institution.
"The current Secretary, Kristi Noem, who has served us well and has had many and spectacular results ," Trump wrote in his post.
According to the US president, Noem will leave her current post to take on a new assignment, that of Special Envoy for the "Shield of the Americas", a newly created role related to a new security initiative in the Western Hemisphere.
Trump described the role as part of a "new Western Hemisphere Security Initiative," emphasizing that Noem will continue to have an important role in his administration's security and immigration policies.
