A powerful storm is hitting parts of the United States, leaving at least 17 people dead and hundreds of thousands without power.
Victims have been reported in New York, Tennessee, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Kansas, Pennsylvania and Texas, including a 16-year-old.
More than 10,000 flights have been canceled, while schools and roads across the country have been closed. Heavy snowfall over the weekend has caused chaos in transportation and services, particularly affecting the central and eastern parts of the US.
The snow is expected to start to taper off today, but freezing temperatures will continue to affect the central and eastern parts of the country. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning for snow from Texas in the south to New England in the northeast.
The storm has also had an impact in Canada. In Toronto, Pearson Airport recorded record snowfall on Sunday, causing flight delays and cancellations.
Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and follow emergency instructions as weather conditions remain difficult.
