Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been photographed leaving a police station after his arrest this morning on suspicion of abuse of office in a public office.
The former prince was seen leaning in the back seat of a vehicle as he left Aylsham police station shortly after 7pm (GMT).
In an official update, Thames Valley Police announced that the checks carried out in Norfolk have been completed.
Earlier in the day, King Charles did not answer reporters' questions about Andrew's arrest while attending an event in central London. In a later statement, he stressed that "the law must take its course." Royal sources say Prince William and Catherine support this position.
The arrest, first reported by the BBC, comes after Thames Valley Police said it was investigating a complaint about the former prince's alleged sharing of confidential material with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.
Andrew, who turns 66 today, has previously denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. He did not respond to BBC requests for comment on the specific allegations relating to the release of millions of Epstein files in January.
