Israel launched what it called a "preemptive strike" on Iran on Saturday morning, according to Defense Minister Israel Katz, while a state of emergency was declared across the country.
The government declared a state of emergency due to expectations of a response from Iran with drones and ballistic missiles.
According to CNN, the Israeli attack on Iran was reportedly coordinated with the United States. Meanwhile, two American officials told CNN that the US is also carrying out attacks on Iran. One of the officials said the attacks are ongoing, describing them as "not a small attack."
The Israeli attack targeted ballistic missiles and rocket launchers, which Israel considers a serious threat, while the Transport Ministry announced that Israel closed its airspace after carrying out the attacks on Iran.
Israel's Home Front Command also ordered the public to carry out only essential activities throughout the country.
The newly announced restrictions prohibit public gatherings, going to work, and attending school.
An exception is made for what Israel calls "exceptional sectors."
