Israel has launched what it called a “preemptive strike” against Iran, significantly escalating tensions in the region. In a statement made this morning, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared a “special and permanent state of emergency” throughout the country as a precautionary measure in the face of a possible response from Tehran.
In parallel, Iranian media reported several explosions in the capital Tehran, where according to published images, thick clouds of smoke were observed in different areas of the city. Until now, Iranian authorities have not given an official statement on the nature or cause of the explosions.
In Israel, sirens have been activated in several regions, while citizens have been directed to shelters as a protective measure against a possible rocket attack. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the operation was undertaken as part of a preventive strategy, calling on citizens to be prepared for the possibility of a response from Iran.
According to The Jerusalem Post, in a national announcement, the IDF emphasized that the warning aims to prepare the public for the possibility of rockets being launched towards Israeli territory.
The situation remains dynamic, while the international community is following with concern the recent development of tensions between the two countries.
