Barcelona are entering the decisive phase of negotiations for the transfer of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, while Catalan leaders are expected to make a final decision within the coming days.
According to AS, president Joan Laporta does not intend to keep the offer open indefinitely. The end of July and the beginning of August are considered the final deadline to understand whether the operation can be carried out or if the club will orient itself towards another target.
The main obstacle remains Atletico Madrid's stance. The Madrid club continues to insist that Julian Alvarez is not for sale, stating that they would not change their decision even for offers of up to 200 million euros.
Despite this, Barcelona consider the Argentina world champion to be the ideal reinforcement for the attacking department. Coach Hansi Flick values Alvarez's ability to put pressure on opponents, his mobility and tactical flexibility, qualities that suit his playing philosophy.
The German coach wants the situation resolved as soon as possible, so that the team can start the new season with a clear plan of attack.
If negotiations with Atletico Madrid do not yield results, Barcelona has prepared other alternatives to strengthen the offensive department.
The coming days are expected to be decisive for the future of Julian Alvarez and for Barcelona's strategy in the summer transfer market.
