The entrance of the former "Dajti" hotel has been engulfed in flames during a protest against Edi Rama's government on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" boulevard, after protesters threw Molotov cocktails at the building. The incident comes at a time when tensions between citizens and the State Police have escalated, while protesters continue to demand the resignation of the prime minister.
The clashes on the boulevard intensified after a vehicle was set on fire and police intervened to disperse the protesters. According to reports from the field, officers attempted to intervene on at least two occasions, but withdrew after citizens reacted. Two people were reportedly injured in the clashes, who were transported to the Trauma Hospital after lying on the ground for several minutes.
The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, also appeared on the scene, but he avoided questions from journalists regarding the situation and the actions of the law enforcement forces. Meanwhile, according to reports from the scene, people in civilian clothes and hoods forcibly pushed away journalists who were trying to get a reaction from him.
The flames at the entrance to the former “Dajti” hotel mark another moment of tension in the protest taking place on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard. Despite clashes and police interventions, protesters continue to remain on the streets, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
