The death of 53-year-old Urim Fiku in Bulqiza has taken another investigative direction, after forensic expertise has raised suspicions that he may have been killed with a firearm and not as a result of a bear attack, as was initially reported.
The incident occurred on November 3, in the Bulqiza area, where the 53-year-old had gone out to the mountains to graze goats. According to preliminary information, he had managed to return home injured, while his family sought medical help, stating that it was suspected that he had been attacked by a wild animal.
After being notified by Bulqiza Hospital, the Police services and the investigation team arrived at the scene, where they found that the 53-year-old had lost his life.
The victim's body was transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tirana for further examinations. During the examination, it is suspected that a gunshot wound was found, as well as a bullet wound to the chest.
This discovery has changed the course of the investigation, causing authorities to also focus on the trail of a possible murder.
As part of the investigation, the Police have escorted 11 people to question them regarding the circumstances of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Prosecution and the investigation group are continuing their actions to determine the exact cause of death, as well as to identify the persons who may have been involved in the incident.
The murder case remains under investigation, and it is expected that the final results of the expertise and investigative actions will clarify the circumstances in which the 53-year-old lost his life.
