Three minutes were enough for him to steal around 60,000 euros in the middle of Tirana and disappear in a pickup truck, without leaving anyone injured. But what is worrying investigators is not only the speed with which the perpetrator acted, but also the fact that he seemed to know exactly where the money was.
New details have emerged from the robbery of the Raiffeisen Bank branch in the Paris Commune area, which occurred on the morning of Monday, November 2.
Security camera footage shows that the perpetrator, disguised in a spacesuit and carrying an object that appeared to be a pistol, entered the bank, threatened the security guard and then headed to the cashier, where he took the money. According to the bank's inventory, the amount stolen amounted to around 60 thousand euros, in lek and foreign currencies.
The entire operation lasted only three minutes. The robber left the bank and drove away on his motorbike, while the police have not yet been able to identify and arrest him.
But the way the robbery was carried out has raised suspicions that the perpetrator may have had inside information. Investigators are examining the possibility that he was helped by people who work or have worked at the bank. This remains an investigative lead and not a proven fact.
Police are also verifying whether the robber had been watching the bank in the days before the incident and whether it could be linked to another robbery that occurred in June, not far from this area.
So far, 60 thousand euros have disappeared with the perpetrator. And the question that needs an answer is whether the robber was simply too prepared, or if someone had previously shown him the way to the money.
