United States President Donald Trump has made strong statements about Iran and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, during a speech given today to law enforcement forces.
Speaking about tensions in the Middle East, Trump declared that Iran is suffering a heavy loss, while warning of a strong geopolitical movement regarding the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important maritime corridors for oil transportation.
"After we finish defeating Iran, which is being defeated very badly, I will very soon declare the Strait of Hormuz a territory of the United States," Trump declared.
The US president also claimed that the US has naval military control in this strategic area.
"That's basically what it is. We have the blockade. No ship passes unless we want it to," he said.
During the same speech, Trump also focused on the security situation within the United States, presenting figures that, according to him, show a historic decline in crime during his term.
Trump stated that the measures taken by the US administration have brought concrete results in public safety.
"Last year, there were over 3,100 fewer murders than the year before I took office, 10,000 fewer rapes and 1.1 million fewer violent crimes. Robberies were down 19%, car thefts were down a whopping 23%," Trump said.
According to the American president, this trend has continued throughout 2026, with robberies, according to him, falling by another 20% and murders by 23%.
