OpenAI has introduced a new feature called “ChatGPT Health,” which aims to help users better understand their health status by allowing them to connect their medical data and wellness apps with artificial intelligence.
According to the company, this tool is not intended for diagnosis or treatment and will not replace doctors, but will serve as an assistant to guide users, help them understand health analyses, trends, and better prepare for conversations with health professionals.
The new feature allows for the integration of data from platforms like Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, and other wellness services, creating a more complete picture of a user's health. The goal is to bring together information spread across different apps, wearables, PDFs, and electronic charts into a single place and make it easier to interpret with the help of AI.
OpenAI said that ChatGPT Health was developed in collaboration with over 260 doctors from around 60 countries and dozens of specialties to ensure the answers are useful and safe. The company also emphasizes that strong privacy and security controls have been put in place for the feature, including additional layers of protection for health data, so that conversations and personal information remain isolated and protected.
Currently, ChatGPT Health is being tested with a limited group of users, while OpenAI plans to gradually expand access to web and iOS users in the coming weeks. Those who want early access can sign up for a waiting list.
