The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama for the attacks on the High Judicial Council and the High Prosecutorial Council, but it seems that he shares the same conclusion with the head of government on one point: Justice Reform has failed.
The difference between the two positions lies in the responsibility for this failure. While Rama pointed the finger at the KLGJ and KLP, describing them as the "face of the failure" of the reform, Bardhi places the responsibility on the prime minister himself and his attempt, according to the democrat, to control the judicial power.
Three days ago, during the extended meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Rama attacked the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court, among other things, on the issue of salaries of members of these institutions.
Reacting to the Prime Minister's statements, Bardhi notes that Rama, according to him, admitted for the first time the failure of the Justice Reform, but avoided responsibility for the reasons that led to this situation.
"Edi Rama, for the first time, spoke about the failure of the Justice Reform. But, as always, he refused to talk about the responsibility for this failure and the reasons that brought it about. There is someone responsible for this failure and there is a clear reason: Edi Rama's will to control all powers, including the judicial power," declared Bardhi.
According to the head of the DP Parliamentary Group, beyond the political and institutional clash, the main problem remains the lack of timely justice for Albanian citizens.
"It is evident that the citizens' concern is not what Edi Rama thinks about the governing bodies of the justice system. The real concern of Albanians is that justice is not being delivered on time. Citizens have been waiting for years for a decision, for a right, for an answer," says Bardhi.
The Democrat further accuses Rama of treating the justice system as an instrument of power and not as a right that should be guaranteed to citizens.
"Justice reform cannot be called a success when citizens continue to expect justice and when the political power seeks to control every link in it. This is the failure for which Edi Rama must be held accountable," concludes Bardhi.
