Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis granted Greek citizenship to Ledian Goga, the Albanian who risked his life to save two drowning children in the summer of this year.
"Ledian Goga in June 2025 risked his life to save two children from the raging waters of the Arachthos River. An act of self-sacrifice that sets an example of humanity and heroism. Today, he has been honored with Greek citizenship. We express our gratitude!" Mitsotakis wrote in a post on his Facebook page.
In June 2025, Ledian Goga intervened to save two minor boys (14 and 15 years old) in the Arachthos River, near Neochori, Greece.
