Today is the International Day of the Missing. Even though 26 years have passed since the end of the war in Kosovo, over 1,590 people are still listed as missing.
As part of this memorial day, the heads of Kosovo's institutions paid homage yesterday near the Monument to Missing Persons, to honor their memory and seek justice.
Other commemorative activities are expected to continue throughout Saturday. After the end of the war in 1999, the total number of people reported missing was around 6,500.
Since then, exhumations have been carried out at several mass graves, both in Kosovo and Serbia, and so far about 70 percent of them have been identified.
