The session to elect the speaker of the Kosovo Assembly fails again. In today's session, the Vetëvendosje Movement once again proposed Albulena Haxhiu for speaker of the Assembly, but she did not receive enough votes: 57 in favor, 56 against, and three abstentions.
Then Donika Gërvalla was also voted on, without success. According to the Constitutional Court's ruling, a candidate can be nominated a maximum of three times. The next session is scheduled for Friday.
The Constitutional Court found that the Chairman of the session violated the Constitution by introducing a secret ballot not provided for in the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, illegally changing the agenda. The Court emphasized that the constitutive session must be concluded within 30 days.
The opposition holds divided positions, PDK only votes for candidates who have not been Kurti's ministers, LDK seeks an agreement, and AAK has mentioned the names of Shqipe Selim and Saranda Bogujevci.
The Presidency has described the constitution of the Assembly as a state emergency for stability and democratic representation.
