Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed that a new round of trilateral talks between Russia, the United States and Ukraine will take place on November 10 and 11 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, in an attempt to find a solution to the years-long war.
During a meeting with the permanent members of Russia's Security Council, Putin announced that he had summoned representatives of the Russian delegation that will participate in the negotiations to prepare for the next round of discussions.
"Since the negotiations are expected to take place on Tuesday, I invited my colleagues who will participate in these talks," the Kremlin leader declared.
The meeting in Moscow was attended by Vladimir Medinsky, Igor Kostyukov, Yuri Ushakov, Mikhail Galuzin and Sergei Ryabkov, according to the Russian news agency TASS. Meanwhile, the Kremlin has confirmed that Medinsky will lead the Russian delegation in the upcoming negotiations.
On the other hand, the US special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has announced that the discussions will focus on security guarantees after the end of the war, reducing tensions, humanitarian issues and further steps towards a peace agreement. The United States is expected to be represented by Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The negotiations in Abu Dhabi are part of Washington's efforts to broker a deal between Moscow and Kiev. However, the sides remain far apart on the possible terms of a settlement, with security and territorial issues remaining among the main obstacles to reaching an agreement.
