Edi Rama has continued the cat and mouse game, but this time he has not chosen as prey specific judges or prosecutors, but the High Judicial Council itself. This institution, which has long tried to appear to defend justice, came out a few hours ago with a ridiculous reaction, listing public and private institutions that, according to him, were violating the work of the judicial system. The greatest irony is that in all this "show of seriousness", they did not find the courage to mention by name the man who has opened a campaign for judges and prosecutors, whose decisions do not match his political appetite.
So, translated into simple language, Edi Rama has decided to spend the last Friday of August having fun with a group of people who act as if they are invisible: a High Judicial Council that tries to maintain "institutional seriousness", but whose members actually seem more timid and insecure than the ministers in Rama's cabinet, who are anxiously awaiting September 11th.
Rama knows very well that whenever he publicly attacks them, they do not react with force, but with half-hearted words, turning himself into an object of ridicule. And this is precisely why he enjoys the game: a cat playing with its frightened mice, throwing them up and down just for fun and not because he considers them a serious institution of justice.
In the end, the only ones left bewildered are these "defenders of justice", who, out of fear of upsetting the prime minister's increased "appetite" for unlimited power, issue nameless, weightless, and ineffective reactions - simply evidence of their collective anxiety.
Edi Rama's reaction to X:
I read the reaction of the Supreme Court of Justice, the highest body of judicial self-government, regarding what I have shared with the public about some scandalously brutal decisions in defense of the occupants of public space and to the detriment of the legal order, the public interest as well as the communities directly affected by these decisions. The Supreme Court of Justice has failed for too long, forgetting that its fundamental role is to be concerned about the quality of justice, as well as to guarantee the public that decisions made by judges to its detriment do not go unanalyzed and that judges are not evil people who do whatever they want with the law in the name of independence. The Supreme Court of Justice has also forgotten that as the highest instance of judicial self-government, it has not only the right but also the duty to take seriously the concerns of parties affected by blind decisions of judges, which in this case are useless due to the lack of sensitivity to the public interest. The Supreme Court of Justice has forgotten other more important things, but at least it has said a truth that I very much agree with, underlining that “any complaint or claim regarding the conduct or integrity of a judge should be addressed to the relevant institutions”, something about which I have informed the public in each of the cases, that we will do by addressing precisely the Supreme Court of Justice and the ILD as the “relevant institutions”. Closing with that for today, I tell the members of the Supreme Court of Justice not to waste their time judging how I do the job for which the Albanian people voted me - my daily judge to whom I have no way of not explaining openly why some illegal buildings in the middle of the road, which receive the unjustifiable protection of some judges insensitive to the public interest, are not removed like the others - if they focus on their own work, which leaves much to be desired in the function of Albania 2030 in the EU
