Police have arrested 14 protesters and have prosecuted 3 others at large, following the protest held on the evening of September 1 near the Prime Minister's Office in Tirana.
According to Tirana Police, protesters blocked the entrances and exits of the Prime Minister's Office at a time when high-ranking state figures were inside the building. Faced with the situation, officers created a security cordon and asked the protesters to disperse and clear "Ismail Qemali" street.
At the end of the actions carried out by the structures of the Tirana Local Police Directorate, 14 people were arrested in flagrante delicto: Dritan Goxhaj, Junik Matoshi, Edison Lika, Erlind Almeta, Sokol Bushi, Lulzim Gjini, Valtion Shameti, Florian Manarkolli, Desiderjo Alimucaj, Bora Mitrovica, Arvina Lleshi, Ylli Brahaj, Arben Kola and Aumiraldi Dalliu who are accused of "Organizing and participating in illegal gatherings and demonstrations", "Opposing a public order police officer", "Disturbing public peace" and "Obstructing the circulation of means of transport".

Tirana/They violently opposed the Police officers and blocked the entrances and exits of the Prime Minister's Office, at a time when high-ranking state figures were present in this institution of particular importance, 14 citizens were arrested and 3 others were criminally prosecuted.
Following the investigative and procedural actions carried out by the structures of the Tirana Local Police Directorate, in relation to the rally held on 01.09.2026, near the Prime Minister's Office:
-the following citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto: DG, 50 years old; JM, 38 years old; EL, 28 years old; EA, 35 years old; SB, 50 years old; L. Gj., 47 years old; V. Sh., 52 years old; FM, 22 years old; DA, 29 years old; BM, 34 years old; A. Ll., 28 years old; YB, 38 years old; AK, 46 years old and AD, 30 years old.
-the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office, where proceedings were initiated against citizens MJ, 47 years old; AT, 54 years old and AG, 56 years old.
On 01.09.2026, at around 20:00, a group of participants in the rally gathered on “Ismail Qemali” Street, on the south side of the Prime Minister's Office, where they blocked the entrances and exits to the premises of this institution, at a time when high-ranking state figures were present. The services of the Tirana Local Police Directorate created a security cordon, in order to prevent further penetration within the security perimeter.
The protesters continued to stand on "Ismail Qemali" Street, in front of the entrance to the Prime Minister's Office, despite the continuous calls of the Police officers, for about 30 minutes, via megaphone, to disperse the rally and clear the road.
Additionally, the Police services, through a megaphone, informed the participants in the rally that their actions were contrary to the law, in violation of public order and peace, as well as the security perimeter of the institution of special importance. They were also informed that, as a result of the rally, the circulation of means of transport and the free movement of high-ranking state personalities had been impeded.
Despite calls from the Police, the protesters continued with calls and active actions to forcefully oppose the planned deployment of Police officers to the security cordon.
At the moment that the Police officers were moving the protesters, with the aim of freeing the entrances and exits of the Prime Minister's Office and clearing the road, the protesters actively resisted, sat on the road, continued to block the entrance to the institution and the road, and hit and pushed the Police officers.
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, for further action, for the criminal offenses of "Organizing and participating in illegal gatherings and demonstrations", "Opposing a public order police officer", "Disturbing public peace" and "Obstructing the circulation of means of transport".
