OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT will now remind users to take a break if they are in a long conversation with the chatbot. The new feature comes as part of the company's initiative to encourage healthy behaviors with its popular assistant.
"We developed ChatGPT to help you thrive in any way you want. To make progress, learn something new, or solve a problem, and then get back to your life. Our goal is not to steal your attention, but to help you use it effectively. Starting today, you'll get notifications during longer sessions to encourage you to take breaks. We'll continue to improve when and how these appear so they're natural and useful," OpenAI said in a post.
An example reminder displayed by OpenAI shows the message, “I’m just checking in. You’ve been chatting for a long time, is this a good time for a break?” Users will then have two options to click, either to continue the conversation or to take a break by clicking “This was helpful.”
In addition to introducing pause pop-ups, Open AI has announced other changes to improve the service, such as improved ability to detect mental and emotional distress to more appropriately respond and handle personal questions.
