
US judge Frank Caprio, known for his exceptional compassion in the courtroom, has passed away at the age of 88. The news was confirmed by his family through a statement shared on social media, CNN reports.
Caprio served for four decades on the Providence County Circuit Court and became famous around the world for his humane approach to justice. The television series “Caught in Providence,” in which he listened with warmth to the stories of citizens, endeared him to millions and earned him a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2021. Clips of his court appearances went viral, turning him into an iconic figure of justice with a humane spirit.
After announcing his retirement in early 2023, Caprio revealed he was suffering from pancreatic cancer. His family described him as a man who “left a profound legacy of kindness and justice” and called on people to honor his memory by spreading more compassion, just as he did throughout his life.
