Prince William and Princess Kate have recently moved into a luxurious residence in the heart of Windsor Great Park, but their arrival has brought consequences for their new neighbors.
The royal couple, along with their children – Prince George (12), Princess Charlotte (10) and Prince Louis (7) – have made the eight-bedroom Fort Lodge their permanent residence. However, to ensure the family's privacy and security, two families living nearby have been asked to move out over the summer.
According to British media sources, the families – who were tenants in Crown Estate properties – were unaware of the plan and received no official notice. “People were asked to leave. I think they were offered other houses to live in, but they didn’t expect that,” said a source.
Royal palace officials have been adamant in their request to clear the immediate area around the residence, for security reasons and to preserve the privacy of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The displaced families have now been relocated to similar or better housing within the Windsor area, but the news has sparked reactions about the way the situation has been managed and the lack of transparency towards the affected residents.
