Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, are seeking over 160,000 euros from Michael Sanchez, Lauren's brother, to cover the costs of a lawsuit that has lasted for several years.
According to documents filed in California Supreme Court on July 28, the couple is seeking €155,000 in attorneys' fees and €5,000 in other legal expenses, accusing Michael of filing "frivolous" lawsuits that were destined to fail from the start.
The family feud began after Bezos' divorce from MacKenzie Scott and the revelation of his relationship with Sanchez. The situation was further strained when the National Enquirer allegedly threatened to publish intimate photos of Bezos. Michael Sanchez sued Bezos in 2020 for defamation, but lost the case in court.
The compensation claim comes shortly after the couple's lavish three-day, €40 million (£35 million) wedding in Venice, to which Michael was not invited. In a statement, he called Bezos and Lauren "liars" and the justice system "corrupt".
