Two Albanian citizens, cousins among them, have been extradited to Italy after being on the list of the 100 most wanted persons by the Italian authorities. They are Andon (alias Afrim) Sina, 52 years old, and Niko (alias Faslli) Sina, 49 years old, residents of the village of Rreth-Kalë, in Dibër. According to the official announcement of the State Police, they had been convicted of serious criminal offenses, including intentional murder in collaboration and attempted murder.
The two extradited men had been internationally wanted by Italian authorities since 1999 and are suspected of having been hiding in the Dibra area for years using false identities.
They were sentenced by a final decision by the Naples Court of Appeal in 2006, to 14 years and 11 months in prison each.
The event for which they were convicted dates back to September 22, 1999, in the municipality of Gricignano d'Aversa, Italy, where it is suspected that, for motives related to the division of income from illegal activities, they killed an Albanian citizen and seriously injured another.
According to sources, the two cousins were arrested last year in Dibër, where they continued to hide under false identities. Their extradition to Italy was carried out this Friday, as part of international cooperation between Albanian and Italian authorities in the fight against organized crime.
