The Israeli military has announced that it has killed two Hamas commanders in airstrikes carried out in the Gaza Strip, claiming that they were involved in planning operations against Israeli forces.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, one of those killed was Salem Jamal Abd al-Rahman Abu Labad, identified as the leader of a unit of Hamas's elite Nukhba forces. The Israeli military claims that he also participated in the attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7, 2023 offensive.
In another strike in central Gaza, the IDF announced the killing of Muhammad Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib, whom it identified as the commander of Hamas' Maghazi battalion.
According to the Israeli military, the operations took place despite the ceasefire, as the two targeted individuals were suspected of preparing attacks on Israeli troops.
"Precision airstrikes were carried out to eliminate the threat," the IDF statement said.
