A snowstorm has disrupted air traffic on one of the busiest weekends of the year in New York and the northeastern region of the United States. Authorities have declared a state of emergency in New York City and the state of New Jersey.
According to Sky News, the bad weather has caused significant disruption for travellers returning or travelling for the Christmas holidays. Flight tracking service FlightAware reported that at least 9,000 flights had been cancelled or delayed since Friday evening.
The area's major airports, John F. Kennedy International, Newark Liberty International and LaGuardia, have issued snow warnings on social media, warning that the bad weather could cause further flight disruptions.
