US President Donald Trump has rejected West Bank annexation plans being considered in the Israeli parliament, declaring with conviction that Israel "will not do anything to the West Bank."
The Knesset voted to debate two bills that extend Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank, Palestinian territory occupied by Israel in the 1967 war.
"Don't worry about the West Bank," Trump told reporters at the White House.
"Israel will not do anything to the West Bank," he assured.
Along the same lines was the interview that Trump gave to Time magazine, where, among other things, he warned Israel: "This is not going to happen. It is not going to happen because I gave the floor to the Arab countries" in the context of negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
"And you can't do that now, Israel would lose all US support if that happened," he added.
