The Paris prosecutor's office conducted a search on Tuesday at the offices of Elon Musk's Company X in France.
The Prosecutor's Cybercrime Unit announced that it was conducting the investigation in cooperation with Europol as well as with the support of the French police cybercrime unit.
It concerns an investigation launched in January 2025, following a complaint from a lawmaker who alleged that the algorithms in X likely distorted the functioning of an automated data processing system.
Paris prosecutors have summoned Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino for questioning in April as part of the investigation, they said Tuesday.
The prosecutor's office also said it was leaving social media platform X and would now communicate on LinkedIn and Instagram. LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft and Instagram by Meta.
