A crew from Italian public broadcaster RAI was stopped and threatened by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis, USA, while conducting a field report.
In Mezz'ora journalists Laura Cappon and Daniele Babbo were filming the latest developments in the city when their vehicle was blocked by ICE vehicles. According to the footage released, the agents spoke to them in an aggressive tone, demanding that they roll down the car window. When the journalists refused and identified themselves as members of the media, an agent told them that “they will break the window and throw them out of the car if they continue filming.”
The incident has caused concern in the international media community, raising questions about the safety of journalists and respect for press freedom. RAI has confirmed that it is closely following the matter and is seeking official clarification from the US authorities.
