Ermal Beqiri has hired a well-known French law firm to confront the Amiens Court, in order to block his extradition to Albania. The businessman, who was arrested in France while piloting a civilian aircraft over the Penly nuclear power plant (Seine-Maritime), according to trusted sources, is a resident of the French state, which he could use as an argument to block his confrontation with justice in Albania. The sources confirm that in the meantime there is another law firm in Albania, which is following the investigative materials in parallel with those of SPAK.
There is still no official confirmation whether Beqiri will apply for political asylum in France, where it turns out that he has also founded companies for several years, while purchasing assets worth millions of euros, including a castle, which have already been seized.
Beqiri is accused of, together with Ergys Agas, creating and leading a criminal group at the National Agency for the Information Society, where he won millions of euros in tenders with his company.
He is suspected of committing the criminal offenses "Unlawful competition through violence", "Unlawful deprivation of liberty", "Violation of equality of participants in tenders or public auctions", committed in a special form of cooperation, that of a structured criminal group, and "Structured criminal group", "Commitment of criminal offenses by a criminal organization and a structured criminal group", as well as "Laundering of the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity", as well as "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions", committed in cooperation, more than once.
